We provide comprehensive design and development documentation support to medical device organizations for establishing effective design controls and demonstrate conformity with ISO 13485 requirements. Clause 7.3 of ISO 13485 demonstrate the controls for design and development process.

Deliverables include

  • Design and development planning: It outlines what is to be developed for the intended purpose of the product. Our design and development consultant helps medical device manufacturers to establish a structured approach to product development, from design input through design transfer. We also support the preparation, organization, and maintenance of Design History File (DHF) documentation.
  • Design Input Documentation: We assist manufacturers in identifying, evaluating, and documenting design inputs based on the intended purpose of the device, user need, patient need, essential performance characteristics, labelling needs, and applicable regulatory requirements. User need, identifies the requirements and expectations of intended users, including healthcare professionals, operators, and patients, as applicable.
  • Design Review Documentation: At suitable stages, systematic reviews of design and development shall be performed in accordance with planned and documented arrangements to evaluate the ability of the results of design and development to meet requirements and identify necessary actions.
  • Design Output Documentation: Design and development outputs shall meet the input requirements for design and development. It provides appropriate information for purchasing, production and service provision. Contains product acceptance criteria and specify the characteristics of the product that are essential for its safe and proper use. The outputs of design and development shall be in a form suitable for verification against the design and development inputs and shall be approved prior to release.
  • Design Verification: Design verification is a crucial stage where the confirmation, through the provision of objective evidence, that the results at the end of the design and development process meet the requirements identified as necessary at the beginning of the process. We support to document verification plans that include methods, acceptance criteria and, as appropriate, statistical techniques with rationale for sample size.
  • Design Validation: Design validation is a planned and documented arrangements to ensure that the resulting product is capable of meeting the requirements for the specified application or intended use. Validation shall be completed prior to release for use of the product to the customer. As part of design and development validation, Medreg support for the documentation clinical evaluations or performance evaluations of the medical device in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Design Transfer: Design transfer includes complete records of all activities performed during design phase should be transferred to manufacturing phase. It includes documentation starting from design plan, drawings, each specification and planning of product realization. Also, it specifies the raw material grades or quantities, manufacturing methods, validated processes, work instructions, correct labelling.
  • Design Change Management: We support medical device manufacturers in establishing a systematic approach to controlling design changes throughout the product development lifecycle. This includes documenting proposed modifications, assessing their potential impact on product safety, performance, risk controls, and regulatory compliance, and ensuring that changes undergo appropriate review and approval before implementation. Relevant records are maintained to provide traceability of design modifications and their associated verification or validation activities, where applicable. Proper design change management helps to maintain accurate design documentation, preserve product conformity, and support compliance with applicable requirements of ISO 13485:2016, EU MDR 2017/745, and EU IVDR 2017/746, as relevant to the device and market.
  • Design History Files/Design and development Files: We assist medical device organizations in compiling and maintaining comprehensive Design and Development Files that document the product development process and demonstrate conformity with applicable regulatory and quality requirements. These files bring together essential records, including design plans, inputs and outputs, review records, verification and validation reports, design transfer documentation, and change management records, as applicable. A well-organized design file establishes traceability throughout the development lifecycle, provides documented evidence that the device meets its specified safety and performance requirements, and supports regulatory submissions, certification assessments, and audit readiness.
